Liza Minnelli (Finally) Got Her Own Comic Book: PHOTOS
Liza Minnelli—star of stage, screen and Studio 54—has finally scored her own comic book, as Bluewater Comics' Female Force: Liza Minnelli hits shelves this week.
I assume Frizell and artist Rafael Cordeiro hit all the important points in Minnelli's life: her spotlit entrance into the welcoming-ish arms of Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli, her ascent to Broadway stardom, her Oscar-winning turn as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, that time Diana Ross tried to kill her for "stealing" her Oscar for Lady Sings the Blues, the numerous times — too many to count, really — she overdosed at Studio 54 only for a young Michael Jackson to resuscitate her, that time Diana Ross tried to kill her for stealing her gum at the 1984 Grammys.
It's truly a life worth giving the four-color treatment.
Female Force: Liza Minnelli is actually the latest in a series of diva-empowerment comics from Bluewater. Past titles have recalled the lives Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Cher and, yes, RuPaul.
