Last names are unnecessary when you speak of someone like Liza Minnelli, but you say it, anyway. The star of stage and screen pops up on this Saturday's episode of Smash, as our friends over at After Elton point out, where she does what she does best: sing. And she doesn't just sing a song, but she does so in a softly-lit piano bar setting (with Christian Borle on the keys), which is probably the best way to see Liza.
Co-stars Megan Hilty and Anjelica Huston look like they didn't see it coming, which is an odd expression to be worn by anyone who works on Broadway, but, alas, this is the stuff of fantasy. And with guest spots this season by Jennifer Hudson and Bernadette Peters, you can add Liza to the list of the show's momentary shining stars.
