Logo TV’s 2014 NewNowNext Award Winners!

darren-crissnnnawardsLogo TV’s 2014 NewNowNext Awards won’t air until this Sunday, December 7 at 8pm ET/PT, but taping wrapped last night in Miami South Beach at the Kimpton’s Surfcomber. The night was nearly flawless, but the show had a bit of a bumpy start. Apparently host Darren Criss “overslept” and almost missed his call time. He had to be mock rousted by the show’s narrator Cyndi Lauper and Criss was still scrambling into his clothes as he hit the stage. Pro that he is, we’re told he recovered quickly.

The night’s music: Joe Jonas spun tracks as Celebrity DJ but live numbers included Jessie J with her smash hit “Burnin’ Up” and gay-fave Kristin Chenoweth performed a stunning rendition of “Maybe This Time” from Cabaret. (The talented blonde pixie got one of the night’s standing ovations after receiving the New Now Next Forever Award.) Singer Betty Who also performed. It was her awards show debut and she made quite a splash with the team of synchronized swimmers accompanying her.

Perhaps an even bigger splash– at least for the gay men and straight women in attendance– trophy boy Billy Reilich, a.k.a Nick the Gardener, handed out trophies wearing only a Speedo and at one point even took a few laps in the pool.

The show will have its broadcast premiere this Sunday on Logo TV at 8pm ET/PT, but we’ll have preview clips for you tomorrow and later this week right here on TheBacklot.com.
