Meet the Logo30: Blair Imani

Imani is a Muslim rights activist and the founder of Equality for HER, a nonprofit educational platform for women and non-binary people.

Every day during the month of June, we will be spotlighting our 2018 Logo30. The powerful series profiles ordinary and extraordinary people who show pride in unique and provocative ways. Visit the Logo30 homepage to learn more about the series.

Blair Imani has blazed a trail for LGBT acceptance and intersectional activism. As a black bisexual woman and practicing Muslim, she's no stranger to existing at the intersection of some of society's most marginalized groups. But Imani doesn't just exist, she thrives.

She's the founder of Equality for HER, a nonprofit educational platform for women and non-binary folks. She's spoken to students at colleges and universities around the country, inspiring a new generation of inclusive activism that's mindful of diversity. Come October, she can add "published author" to her resume when Modern HERstory: Stories of Women and Nonbinary People Rewriting History hits stands.

"If you do something positive in the world, whether you have 50,000 followers or zero, you're still affecting people in a positive way," she tells NewNowNext. "That's really transformed my understanding what a role model is, and how you can inspire others just by being yourself."
