In celebration of Pride Month, Logo is launching a new division dedicated to documentary films that capture LGBT life and culture in all its diversity.
The announcement of Logo Documentary Films comes off of the recent Emmy win for Logo and MTV’s collaboration, Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word.
“LGBT culture is rich with remarkable stories and storytellers and, with Logo Documentary Films, we’ve committed to bringing films that bring the vivid color of the experience to life,” said Pamela Post, the network’s head of original programming.
“These films entertain, enlighten and deeply engage, and we’re proud to share them with our audience.”
The initial slate will include six new docs focusing on LGBT trailblazers from the perspective of their family and friends including the previously announced Matt Shepard Is A Friend Of Mine and Blair Dorosh-Walther’s Out in the Night.
Night chronicles a 2006 incident in which a group of African-American lesbians were threatened by a man in Greenwich Village and later charged with attempted murder for defending themselves.
Additional films include Versailles ‘73, Gen Silent, Out & Around and The If Project.
Logo Documentary Films debuts with Out In The Night on June 22 at 10pm.
