Tuesday at 4pm Eastern on NewNowNext.com our parent company Logo in conjunction with AllOut.org will host a live-stream discussion focusing on the current situation between Russia and the LGBT community in light of the recently passed “gay propaganda” law.
The one-hour show “Logo Town Hall: Russia vs. The Gays” will be hosted by former ESPN Radio host Jared Max and will feature guests including Andre Banks, Co-Founder and Executive Director at AllOut.org; Olympic champion diver Greg Louganis; Nina Long, Co-President of RUSA LGBT; and Roman Mamonov, a Russian freelance journalist who applied for asylum and moved from Moscow to New York nine months ago. The town hall will explore the facts and myths surrounding the law and the international backlash — which has included a boycott on Russian products — as well as the controversy surrounding the US participation in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
As Logo’s Executive Vice President and General Manager Lisa Sherman explains, “Russia’s ‘gay propaganda’ law is a critical topic for the LGBT community, and we want to provide an interactive and educational forum to discuss this human rights issue.”
“The world is responding in unprecedented ways to Putin’s crackdown on human rights. It is critical as the movement grows, that we all remain informed,” said Andre Banks, Executive Director and Co-Founder of All Out. “That is why All Out is pleased to partner with Logo TV to bring this important conversation to the world.”
Next Tuesday’s Town Hall could be the first of many for Logo designed to seriously explore important LGBT issues. “We look forward to convening future town halls that will address the current events and breaking news that matters most to our viewers.”
