Meet the Logo30: Candis Cayne

The trailblazing showgirl gets real about the future of LGBTQ acceptance.

Every day during the month of June, we will be spotlighting our 2019 Logo30. This powerful series profiles ordinary and extraordinary people who show pride in unique and provocative ways. Visit the Logo30 homepage to learn more about the series.

All the way back in 2007, Candis Cayne made television history when she became the first trans actress to portray a recurring trans character on primetime television in the series Dirty Sexy Money. Since then, she has appeared on Grey’s Anatomy and The Magicians and even ran for president.

In her new interview with Logo, Cayne explains how the LGBTQ community has become more accepted over the years, but “not everybody is going to love our rainbow.”

“No matter how easy it becomes for us [the LGBTQ community], there is always going to be a moment in history, like what we’re in right now, where we all have to come together as a community and fight for each other. And that’s probably going to happen forever,” she says.
