Nine years ago, singer-songwriter Chely Wright broke ground by coming out as a lesbian, becoming one of the first openly gay stars of contemporary country music. Since then, she's gone on to garner national acclaim for her bravery as an out artist, continue her work in the music industry, and welcome twin sons into the world with her wife.

"I stepped on the sound stage of the Today Show and told the world who I am," Wright tells Logo, recalling that life-changing interview all those years ago. "It was like being born again. So, happy anniversary to me!"
