Gottmik really did crash the cis-tem.
Even before landing in the final four of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13, Gottmik made Drag Race herstory as the first transmasculine contestant on the series. Known professionally as a formidable makeup artist, Mik proved she could beat a mug and bring fierce fashion to the runway week after week. She also showed her comedic side by winning Snatch Game with her hot Paris Hilton impression, getting some jabs in at the Nice Girls Roast, and stealing the show as a rockin’ Russian bot in the “Social Media: The Rusical” challenge.
Mik was one of the most popular queens from Season 13, garnering a devoted fanbase and even stomping onto the stage of the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted — alongside Symone, America’s reigning drag superstar — to accept the award for Best Reality Cast.
“There are so many LGBTQ activists out there who are changing the world,” Mik tells Logo. “A few of my favorites are basically all the girls on Pose. I am so obsessed with them. Literally, they use their platforms to the highest extent of activism. Indya Moore’s Instagram — every caption, I am learning. I swear, my mind is blown every time they post and educate their followers on their gender journey. It’s just so beautiful. … I’m just so enamored and proud of Pose and the whole cast, and how they use their platforms.”
Legends recognizing legends? We love to see it.
