An LGBT group has hung a banner on London’s Vauxhall Bridge this morning in protest of Donald Trump's inauguration.

Dozens gathered to place the sign, which reads: "Queer Solidarity Smashes Borders." In addition to the message, protesters set off a series of rainbow-colored smoke flares.

One of those involved with the Vauxhall protest was out comedian Joe Sutherland, who said the group is sending out a message of solidarity to those "who feel threatened."

"As a queer comedian it’s my job to find funny ways to deal with a bad situation," he told local reporters. "But what we’re facing now isn’t funny, it’s terrifying."

"The dirty tactics of mainstream media and politicians in UK, Europe and the USA are trying to divide us into smaller and smaller groups and make us fear each other."

"I’m here as part of my LGBTQ+ community to show that we stand with others who feel threatened: migrants, muslims, women, people of colour and disabled people," he concluded. "If we support each other then we don’t have to be afraid."

The banner drop at Vauxhall Bridge is part of a worldwide movement to speak out against Trump's imminent presidency, which is being tracked with the hashtag #BridgesNotWalls.

In London alone, signs have popped up at London Bridge ("No silence on UK violence #BlackLivesMatter") and Millenium Foot Bridge ("What happens next is up to us"). Banners have also appeared in Leeds, Luton and Dublin.

An official website for the movement states: "Today Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States of America. Together, we are dropping banners from bridges across the country–and the world–to send a simple, hopeful and unmistakable message."

Trump, who has vowed time and time again to erect a wall along the United State's border with Mexico, will officially be sworn in as President at 11:30 am today.
