"Lion King" Cast Teams Up With London Gay Men's Chorus For Epic "Circle Of Life" Performance

The two groups recorded the song in celebration of Pride.

Ahead of this weekend's London Pride, the London Gay Men's Chorus joined the cast of the West End production of The Lion King for a performance of the "Circle of Life."

Sixty members of the chorus provided backing vocals for Lindiwe Mkhize, who's portraying Rafiki in the current London cast.

"Having the opportunity to collaborate with The London Gay Men’s Chorus has been a wonderful experience for us here on The Lion King in London, and one that we were thrilled to take," said Mkhize.

"We are incredibly proud and honored to celebrate with the LGBT community–and the whole of London–at this joyous moment of Pride."

"Disney and The London Gay Men’s Chorus both have such wide and eclectic audiences, so we were tremendously excited to work together on this celebration of hope, diversity and pride," remarked LGMC chairman Mark Kember.

"Working with Lindiwe and the cast was a dream come true for many of our members and it was amazing to learn how we both work to achieve the same things–bringing audiences excitement and entertainment–while spreading such important messages of tolerance, understanding and harmony."

Though London's been celebrating Pride since June 24, the official parade is this Saturday and will be led by Grand Marshal Suzanne Couture, a leader in the city's LGBT community for more than 30 years.
