Since it debuted earlier this year, Looking has been receiving a lot of criticism for being, well, boring. But there's nothing dull about Murray Bartlett, the Australian actor who plays Dom, a perennial waiter who focuses more on chasing boys than chasing a dream. In tonight's episode, Dom turns 40—certain death in certain gay circles.

Bartlett, who's actually 42 (and definitely not over the hill) recently sat down with BUTT magazine and, while he didn't flash the goods on camera, he did reveal some truths. Like how he's circumcised. And that he had to fake an orgasm in a recent episode of Looking.

"I was acting like I was fucking a guy up against a mirror and we were in these like little socks. It’s basically this pouch that you tie around your dick and your balls," he explains. "We’re pushing against each other and pretending to cum."

As for his real-world sex life, Bartlett, who is gay, says every couple has to figure out what works for them: "You have to make your own rules in relationships. You figure it out as you go along. You can’t say that a relationship should be this way or that way. You kind of just have to go with the flow"

As for whether Looking will get a second season, Bartlett says the answer is coming soon. "We’re waiting to hear. I think we’re gonna know in the next week or so," he explains. "The show has stirred up some interesting conversations, and the audience seems to be steadily increasing, so, you know, it all looks good."

Looking airs Sundays at 9:30pm on HBO
