Love, Victor, set in the same universe as Love, Simon, is scheduled to premiere in June during LGBTQ Pride Month. Originally slated to debut on Disney+, Disney’s streaming service, the spin-off series has now found its home on Hulu.

According to the official press release, Love, Victor follows Victor, “a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.”

As NewNowNext previously reported, This Is Us showrunners Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker—who wrote the Love, Simon screenplay based on a YA novel by author Becky Albertalli—will be showrunners and executive producers of Love, Victor.

Nick Robinson, who starred as gay teen Simon Spier in the groundbreaking 2018 film, will return to produce and narrate the series.

Cimino stars as Victor, along with Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) as Isabel, “Victor’s smart and warm mother who loves her husband and her family, but is under a lot of pressure as they move their family across the country.”

Love, Victor is funny, heartfelt and deeply affecting, and we were incredibly taken with the project,” said Craig Erwich, SVP of originals at Hulu. “The show’s contemporary lens and honest storytelling make it a perfect fit for the millions of fans on Hulu who already watch and see themselves in series like Looking for Alaska, Pen15, and Grown-ish.”

“With Hulu now an integral part of our streaming family, our teams are closely collaborating and we have the unique ability to choose the best home for our original productions. All of us at Disney+ are incredibly proud of Love, Victor, and know the series will be a perfect addition to Hulu’s strong slate of young adult programming,” said Ricky Strauss, president of Disney+ content and marketing.

Sources noted that the Mouse House “felt many issues explored on the show, including alcohol use and sexual exploration, would not fit in with the family-friendly content on Disney+.”

How does Victor find himself onstage with Katya, one of the most popular drag queens on the scene? You'll have to find out when all 10 episodes of Love, Victor drop June 19 on Hulu.
