Mac Comes Out As Gay On “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”

They're always the last to know.

Fans of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia may have known Mac was gay for years, but it looks like he is just finally figuring it out for himself for the first time.

In the first episode of the two-part season finale, titled “The Gang Goes to Hell,” Mac makes a startling realization after many years of internalizing his true sexuality.

Mac’s been obsessed with the male physique for years now — this is the end of the comedy’s 11th season on FX — but it was a Christian cruise he took the gang on in the latest episode that finally let him see what we’ve known all along.

Mac, played by series creator Rob McElhenney, spots a male couple kissing on the ship and, after seeking an answer from God, decides to convert the gays — for their own good, of course.

The couple flips the table on the closeted character, and suggests they convert Mac instead.

Mac says there is no way they could convert him to their “lifestyle,” but apparently decides to give it a shot anyway, which leads him to his shocking revelation.

You’ll have to wait until next year to really see what his new gay life is like for Mac, but you can check out the second part of the season finale this Wednesday at 10 on FXX.
