A new docudrama about Madonna’s early days in New York caused a commotion when pics from the film’s set were released last year. Now in honor of her Madgesty’s 60th birthday, the movie, Madonna and the Breakfast Club, now has a trailer.
Written and directed by Guy Guido, Madonna and the Breakfast Club is set in the late ’70s and early ’80s, when Madonna was dating Dan Gilroy, lead singer of The Breakfast Club. (The future pop icon also performed with the band on occasion).
In 2016 Gilroy turned over to Guido hours of “private tapes of ’bedroom talk,’” according to Page Six, as well as love letters that Madonna wrote him.
“Through first hand accounts of some of her closest friends and bandmates at the time… this film explores the historical time in entertainment history where Madonna began her pursuit of a career in music,” the description reads.
Madonna and the Breakfast Club also includes reenactments featuring Jamie Auld as the future Queen of Pop.
An exact release date has not been announced, but look for it sometime before the end of the year. Until then check out the new trailer below.
