Madonna is reportedly back in the recording studio and reunited with longtime collaborator Mirwais for her new untitled album.
The legendary popstar teased the exciting news on social media today, confirming a new song called “Beautiful Game” is “coming soon.”
The superstar has been working on her 14th studio album since the start of 2018, regularly posting cryptic updates from the studio. Last month, the “Material Girl” singer posted a clip of herself singing to an unknown song online tagging Mirwais, but later clarified it wasn’t a new track of hers, and that she was “having fun in the studio between takes.”
Producer and songwriter Mirwais worked on several tracks for Madonna’s 2000 album Music, including hit single “Don’t Tell Me.” He co-produced Madonna’s entire American Life album in 2003 and co-wrote “Future Lovers” on 2005’s Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Madonna teased “Beautiful Game” live last week during a performance of “Like A Prayer” at the 2018 Met Gala, prompting spectulation that an official release would follow soon.
Madonna’s last release, 2015’s Rebel Heart, peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200. Its accompanying tour grossed $170 million from 82 shows, with more than 1 million ticket sales, solidifying the entertainer’s status as the highest-grossing solo touring artist in Billboard Boxscore history.
