Madonna Takes Heat For Using Martin Luther King Jr. In "Rebel Heart" Promotion

Madonna's promotion of "Rebel Heart" continued on Twitter and Instagram today, where she upset some people by photoshopping black wires over the faces of Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela and Bob Marley.

She's been posting similar images on Instagram all month, putting black wire over the faces of Marilyn Monroe, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus, a statue of Jesus and even her own mother.

She's tagged them all with #rebelheart to promote the release of the second half of her upcoming album, which leaked way ahead of schedule last month. She's wearing black wire across her face on the album's cover:

Madonna's images including Martin Luther King, Jr., Nelson Mandela and Bob Marley are the first to catch heightened criticism, being called "disrespectful" and "over the line" by people on Twitter.

The album is expected to be released March 10. In a final Instagram post after the three controversial images today, Madonna teased artwork for the lead single "Living for Love." Listen to it below:
