Madonna Slays on the Cover of "Vogue" Italia
Madonna has graced the cover of Vogue Italia for the magazine's August 2018 issue, and the images are nothing short of show-stopping.
The legendary pop star, who turns 60 on August 16, spoke to the magazine about her family life in Portugal, where she moved with four of her six children to support her son, David, with his soccer career. She also opened up about her passions, including a fundraiser for her charity Raising Malawi, running now through August 31 on Facebook.
The shoot, titled "Just One Day Out of Life," sees Madonna sport two all-black Saint Laurent looks. Fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott snapped the photos. (Creative director Giovanni Bianco told WWD that, since it's Madonna we're talking about, "she basically did her own styling.")
Focusing the shoot in Lisbon was Madonna's idea, too, editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti added.
"[The feature is] the tale of a new life, her move to Portugal to help her son David play soccer—it’s incredible to think of Madonna as a soccer mom,” Farneti said. “She proposed the Lisbon angle and it turned out to be a very personal interview, more interesting than doing a retrospective of the artist or a story on her African projects, which have already been explored."
