Madonna Served Sean Hayes Some Major Shade When She Was On "Will & Grace"
The cast of Will & Grace made the press rounds this past week in London with the show's ninth season recently premiering on Channel 5 in the U.K.
During a live event last week, the foursome were asked about the many famous faces that appeared on the sitcom over the years and Sean Hayes told a story about when Madonna guest starred in Season Five as Karen's new roommate, Liz—and how she served him some major shade during rehearsals for the episode.
"She was wonderful. She came in, did the table read, and was great," said Hayes. "I know she was nervous, so to make her feel good I was praising her. I was like 'That’s funny when you do that!' and ‘That’s really great!'”
Then Hayes added: "She said, quote: 'Thank you. I live for your approval.'"
"I was like, 'Oh my God, my idol, she hates me!'"
This was not the only time the queen of pop was brought up during the cast's U.K. tour. Debra Messing and Eric McCormack were guests on The Graham Norton Show, and Norton asked about Madonna and the duo had their own story—and it was about how Madonna could not remember any of the actors' names.
McCormack told the audience how Madonna came in late for the first read through of the script, didn't know who played Jack, and "everyday she went to Debra and I and went 'I'm sorry, I don't remember your name.'"
This just further backs up when Megan Mullally told Jimmy Kimmel last year that Madonna just referred to everyone in their character names even when the cameras weren't rolling.
“So she’d be like “Hi, Will, hi Grace?” Kimmel asked her.
“Yeah, kinda,” Mullally explained with a laugh.
Maybe Madonna can make amends by returning as Liz next season?
