So Madonna’s possible-lead-single for her new album started floating around online today – check it out here (the second of the two links works for me).
"The Beat Goes On" is a duet with Pharrell (who I actually wish had a bigger part – I love his voice), and I’ll admit I was holding Madge to a pretty high standard after the greatness that was Confessions on a Dancefloor.
So…felt a little disappointed at first, but liked it more the second and third time listening to it. The guitar and the baseline are totally cool, but it’s a little flat to me. The lyrics are also off, "Always a bride’s maid, never the bride," followed by, "I’ll throw you some rope, if it’ll give you hope," followed by, "I can’t keep waiting for you!"
Huh? I’ll hold out for single Number 2.
