Male Dancer Slays Crowd At The Miami Heat's All-Girl Dance Team Audition

Some ladies from the competition are already asking for tips.

Nearly 200 women participated in the Miami Heat dance squad auditions last week, only to be showed up and slayed by a single male dancer who sashayed his way into a local news report.

Local 10 reporter MJ Acosta met Keith Wilson, the 28-year-old dancer slashing stereotypes by competing for a spot on the team. Asked why he came out to audition for a spot on the traditionally female dance squad, Wilson said, "Dancing. That's it. It has no gender, it has no sexuality. It's just dance. It's an art."

Wilson's first time auditioning for the Miami Heat dance squad was back in 2012. He said even though his competition is entirely female, he has hope that someday the Miami Heat could be more inclusive by featuring male dancers.

"The Heat is actually one of those organizations that's open to anything, so I'm pretty sure — one day — it'll happen," he told Local 10.

Wilson didn't make the squad this year but he plans on forging ahead with greatness. According to his students at Executive Vibes Contemporary Dance Theater, he's already a star.

"Never let anyone tell you that you can't do it because of 'this.' Never let anyone tell you that you're not good enough, small enough, or fit enough," he said. "It should always be, 'Go for it.'"
