Bust Out Your Best Denim Overalls Because Today Is "Mamma Mia" Day

"July 17th, what a night."

Everyone knows that May 4 is Star Wars Day, and now other classic movies, like Aliens, are even getting days in their honor—but what about the musicals?!

With Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again hitting theaters in a few short days, and Cher revealing she recorded a whole album of ABBA covers, Mamma Mia insanity is at a fever pitch. But don't wait until the weekend to celebrate Donna and the Dynamos because today, July 17, is actually Mamma Mia Day.

Why, this particular date, you ask? Because it was the day that Sam (Pierce Brosnan) and Donna (Meryl Streep) had a romantic evening where they "danced on the beach, kissed on the beach, and dot dot dot" according to Donna's diary, which Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) finds and reads.

"Dot dot dot! That's what they did in the olden days," explains Sophie before she begins singing "Honey, Honey," at the start of the first Mamma Mia movie.

Yes, we know Donna eventually courted two other men, but Sam was the first, and since Donna—spoiler alert—ends up marrying him, let's stick with July 17.

So how does one celebrate Mamma Mia Day? We suggest putting on your favorite pair of denim overalls, sneaking into a bachelorette party, and singing ABBA songs at the top of your lungs.

Or just sit around and dream about Meryl Streep being your mom, and living in a hotel on a Greek island. That works too.
