Man Murders 15-Year-Old Gay Boy In Brazil, Then Goes Back To His Birthday Party

Nearly 1,600 LGBT people have been murdered in Brazil since 2011.

A 30-year-old man who beat a gay teenager to death before disrobing his lifeless body at a party in Santa Catarina, Brazil last June has told police that he killed the boy because he "suspected that he was gay."

A report in Universo Online claims the victim, 15-year-old Erick Kanaan da Silva, attended a birthday party for the assailant with his female friend and stayed after she left later that night.

According to prosecuting attorney Jair Pereira Duarte, the victim "left home without dinner, drank on an empty stomach without being accustomed to alcohol and became ill."

That's when, according to testimony, the assailant knocked da Silva to the ground and kicked him until he died as the result of head trauma and internal bleeding.

In a confession to police this week, the man admitted he attacked the young boy because he has "gay anger."

The man also confessed that he removed da Silva's clothing after the attack over fear his fingerprints would be found on the victim's clothing.

After da Silva was killed, party guests moved the party to a different location without calling police. The birthday boy assailant and a group of friends then allegedly wrapped da Silva in curtains from the house, threw him into the trunk, and discarded his body miles away before attending the second party.

Even though Brazil has a better track record for LGBT rights than most countries in South America, LGBT people are being murdered there in epic proportions.

According to the group Grupo Gay da Bahia, nearly 1,600 LGBT people have been murdered in the country since 2011. By their estimates, a gay or trans person is killed almost every day in Brazil.
