Comedian Margaret Cho has been giving a voice to anti-racism, anti-bullying and gay rights campaigns for decades. The funny lady recently sat down with JD Samson for Broadly to discuss how she uses comedy to shine a light on bigger issues.

"I think comedy is a way to popularize an idea without preaching at people," says Cho. "I think when you're able to make a joke about something that's relevant to how you feel, then it's an easier time to bring other people over to your way of thinking."

She also touches on the struggles she has faced as a bisexual.

"Bisexuals are kind of weird because we are looked at as kind of a traitor to both sides," she explains. "Like we're not easily trusted by either the heterosexual community or the homosexual community."

Cho also describes herself as a "bottom," and explains her take on the sexual positions.

"When you're the bottom, you kind of call the shots," she says. "The top is actually in service of the bottom all the time."
