Mariah Carey will have some incredibly large shoes heels to fill when the lights come up on her first ever Las Vegas residency later this year.

The 44-year-old elusive chanteuse shared the huge announcement with The Ellen Degeneres Show audience at a taping this week, the episode for which is scheduled to air today. "I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars," she excitedly told Ellen. "This is a special event for me."

Mariah's gig will fill in the space left by Celine Dion, who left on hiatus from her wildly successful residency at Caesars last year to care for her ailing husband.

According to the brief description she gives Ellen, Mariah's show will have her singing all 18 of her No. 1 hits. "I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album Number 1's, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them," she said.

Tickets for the event, slated for a May 6 premiere at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, are already on sale.
