Mariah Carey Honors George Michael With Breathtaking Tribute Performance

Carey performed the late singer's hit "One More Try."

Mariah Carey recently honored the late George Michael with a stirring performance of his beloved chart-topping ballad, "One More Try."

The pop star pulled out the heartfelt tribute at the Dubai Jazz Festival this past Friday evening. The song, from Michael's debut album Faith, was covered by Carey on her 2014 record Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse.

“I always loved it, I always loved him," she said before the performance. "He was a really great person. So we’ll make it through this.”

Back in 2014, the gay icon gave a thumbs up to Carey's version of "One More Try," writing on Twitter that he was honored "to have one of the best voices in the world singing [his] song."

Michael, who died from heart and liver failure on Christmas Day, was laid to rest in a private family ceremony in London last week.

Interestingly, Carey paid tribute to the late gay singer in a country where same-sex sexual activity is still illegal and punishable by deportation, chemical castration and imprisonment.
