The much anticipated film adaption of Larry Kramer’s play, The Normal Heart, has assembled a star studded cast to retell the story of a New York gay activist who attempts to raise HIV/AIDS awareness during the early 1980s. Director Ryan Murphy has begun filming this month in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Fire Island.
Most recently, Mark Ruffalo (above, as lead character Ned Weeks) tweeted this image of him and Friday Night Lights hottie Taylor Kitsch (ass closeted investment banker as his boyfriend, Bruce Niles) on Wednesday, when DOMA and Prop 8 were knocked down.
On Fire Island, Glee’s Jonathan Groff appears in a tight tank and denim short-shorts—a look he should sport more often—as Craig, Kitsch’s love.
Kitsch has gone blonde for the role, and looks hot even as a douchy Gordon Gecko Wall Street type. Hey, it was the ’80s! :

Sadly no photos yet of Matt Bomer as Felix Turner, journalist and boyfriend of Ruffalo’s Ned Weeks who tragically contracts the disease. However, photos of fellow gay Jim Parsons, who reprises his role of gay activist Tommy Boatwright from the 2011 Broadway revival, have.
No photos yet of Julia Roberts in character as Week’s wheelchair bound physician, Emma Brookner but she did hit the Pines recently to spend time with the crew (including hubby Danny Moder, director of photography for the film ).
Now we just sit and wait for those first photos of Bomer to leak, as well as shots of other cast members, including Alec Baldwin, as Week’s conservative brother.
