Illustrators Kris Anka and Kevin Wada recently shared steamy images from a proposed Marvel Swimsuit Issue they had been working on.

While an official reboot of Marvel's beefcake parade from the 1990s never materialized—Wada and Anka pulled the plug on it—we can still enjoy some of these sketches from Anka's Tumblr, in all their hyper-muscular glory.

Did we mention Channing Tatum is set to play Gambit (above) in an upcoming X-movie? We can see the resemblance.

Anka revealed the book would have included 52 water illustrations of some of Marvel's hottest superheroes, including Gambit (above), Ghost Rider and Hellion, as well as Storm, Captain Marvel and Mystique.

"The sketches I posted were not for an official project to be published by Marvel," he explained. "They were for an artists’ sketchbook that Kevin Wada and myself were going to pitch to Marvel for approval... We were proud of our work so far, so we wanted to share what we had done."
