You can't beat this intimate new study.

In honor of International Masturbation Month, which is a thing, Tenga, a sexual health and wellness company, recently conducted a major survey on self-pleasure.

For the global report, which Tenga claims is the “world’s largest” to focus on masturbation, the company surveyed 13,000 respondents aged 13-74 in 18 countries.

The study found that 78% of all adults masturbate, and it probably won't come as a great shock to learn that men are more likely to masturbate, watch porn, and use self-pleasuring sex toys than women. In fact, guys get themselves off an average of 4.8 times a week.

Among the more interesting findings, Americans who identify as gay or bisexual are 12% more likely to have masturbated than straight people; about 95% of gay or bisexual Americans say they’ve masturbated, compared to 83% of heterosexuals. Globally, compared to heterosexuals, gay or bisexual people are 23% more likely to masturbate weekly.

Gay or bisexual Americans are also more likely to have talked openly about masturbation; about 76% of gay or bisexual people say they've spoken to a friend or partner about masturbation, compared to 42% of heterosexuals.

As for political preferences, about 89% of Americans who identify as liberals have masturbated, compared to 82% of conservatives. Liberals are also much more likely to have used solo sex toys.
