How Maxine Waters Learned The Meaning Of "Throwing Shade"

"I am having the time of my life with the millennials."

One of the biggest stars to emerge out of this new political landscape has been Representative Maxine Waters—or "Auntie Maxine" as the children online refer to her.

The Democrat, who has represented the 35th and 29th districts of L.A. since 1991, has been one of the most vocal opponents of Donald Trump and his team. She has called for his impeachment numerous times and is a favorite on political news programs like All In With Chris Hayes.

The country took notice of her when the clip of her saying the FBI Director has "no credibility" went viral back in January.

Now This, a New York-based news site, interviewed Waters about her newfound fame online, especially with the younger set who treat her like a celebrity when they meet her, asking for autographs and pictures.

"I am having the time of my life with the millennials," Waters says in the clip. "They're even teaching me a new language!"

She also explains how after her remark about the FBI Director people said she "threw shade," but Waters admits she didn't know what that phrase meant—so she asked her grandchildren.

"I am having a great time and I feel a connection has been made," the representative says about her sudden popularity.

Just remember, Auntie Maxine is a strong black woman who is not afraid to say what she thinks so do not come for her unless she sends for you.
