"Mean Girls" Actor Daniel Franzese Comes Out As Gay: "Duh" (WATCH)

Ten years after playing the iconic role of Lindsay Lohan's GBF in the classic teen comedy Mean Girls, actor Daniel Franzese has come out of the closet publicly as a gay man.

In a touching letter penned to his Mean Girls character posted on IndieWire, Franzese discusses his unwillingness to announce his sexuality for the larger part of his career:

I was twenty-six; you were sixteen.  You were proud of who you were; I was an insecure actor. You became an iconic character that people looked up to; I wished I’d had you as a role model when I was younger. I might've been easier to be gay growing up...

More and more people are coming up and talking to me about it again, and especially adult gay males, some in tears ... The reason I wanted to do it was that I didn't see a young, gay, chubby representation of myself. ... That meant a lot to a lot of people.

Of course, Franzese concludes the letter with his signature catchphrase:

We go Glen Coco.

Congrats, Daniel!  We look forward to hearing more from you in the future!

Meanwhile, over at Dish Nation, Franzese discusses the "duh moment" of his coming out.
