Meet the gay designers from season four of HGTV’s “Design Star”

Jason Champion and Nathan Galui

The new season of HGTV’s Design Star premieres this weekend, and we’ve got a first look at out contestants Jason and Nathan.

Thirty-three year-old Jason Champion hails from Sarasota, Florida, and sees winning Design Star as a career stepping stone:

I bring a different combination of funny personality with design talent. My ability to host and reach the audience with charm and confidence makes a great fit for a show not yet developed for HGTV – that’s why I will be the season 4 Design Star winner.

Twenty-five year-old Nathan Galui is from Palm Beach, Florida, and believes he has that “special something” needed to win:

I am extremely competitive by nature. Not only can I design a great interior, but I can build and create the various elements within. My abilities range from space planning to construction management. However my “special something” lies in the design and craftsmanship of furniture. My unique style, fun personality and need for a good challenge will undoubtedly drive me to be this season’s Design Star.

The stakes are huge this season, as the winner will be awarded their own design show on HGTV. Fortunately for our gay guys, they may have a leg up in one of the competitions, which involves designing a spare room for … wait for it … Kathy Griffin.

Good luck to Jason and Nathan, and be sure and catch Design Star when the fourth season premieres on HGTV Sunday, July 19th at 10PM ET.
