Meet The Man Who Could Be Major League Baseball's First Openly Gay Player

"If they're going to talk, let them talk. Let them say whatever they need to say."

We told you last year that minor league baseball player David Denson made history by coming out as gay, and now he's reflecting on how being his true self with his teammates is affecting his major league dreams.

"I think it actually formed a bond between my teammates and me even more," said the Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect.

Denson, who was the Brewers' 15th-round draft pick in 2013, added:

"They had an idea. They would never cross the boundary of actually asking me, but they always had an idea in their mind. So when I actually said it, it's like, it satisfied their wonder. It was like, 'OK, now we know. We don't have to think about it too much anymore.' It's like, 'It's out there, it's cool and we've passed it.'"

Denson is set to kick off 2016 in low Single-A with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and the 21-year-old says he isn't worried about what commentators and outsiders have to say about him.

"If they're going to talk, let them talk. Let them say whatever they need to say,” he said to Bleacher Report. "Because at the end of the day, they're not supporting your playing, they're not working out every day like you're doing, and they don't pay your bills."
