Megan Rapinoe Is Alice's First Celesbian Guest on the New "L Word"

Showtime's reboot of the iconic series is the gay gift that keeps on giving.

Sporty dykes, rejoice: Christmas just came early.

On Thursday afternoon, the great minds at Showtime took to Twitter to confirm what L Word fans had long suspected: World Cup champion soccer star Megan Rapinoe will be making a cameo in Episode 3 of its reboot of the iconic series, The L Word: Generation Q.

"I'm a thespian," Rapinoe joked on Twitter, quote-tweeting Showtime's announcement. "(Is that correct?)"

Specifically, the U.S. Women's National Team co-captain and purple-haired patron saint of gender parity in sports will be guesting as herself on Alice's fictional, Ellen-style talk show. (But, you know, minus the whole "problematic friendship with George W. Bush" thing.)

On Twitter, actress Leisha Hailey, who plays Alice, revealed that she'd kept Rapinoe's guest spot a secret for months. The L Word: Generation Q only premiered two weeks ago, but Showtime had teased its highly anticipated arrival for the better part of this year.

"[Rapinoe] is every bit as wonderful and amazing as you think," she tweeted. "Watch Alice and Fortune Feimster welcome her on The L Word: Generation Q."

Tune in to Showtime's The L Word: Generation Q (and @LogoTV's weekly live-tweets of each new episode) at 10pm ET on Sundays.
