Meme: Neil Patrick Harris Talks Sharing Fatherhood, Tara Reid Dropped From “Sharknado 2,” Anderson Cooper Stalker Arrested

Neil Patrick Harris David BurtkaNeil Patrick Harris is subject to a lengthy profile in USA Today, in which he talks his relationship, his upcoming memoir, his white hot career, and fatherhood. “The first year with them was complicated. They were twins, and they were crying a lot. Thank God for David. He is so good at differentiating cries. David is so drawn to parenthood, just in his core, that I suddenly felt I was a perimeter guy. I was the man who put the cribs together and took the trash out. I tried to balance the equation. The older they get, the more I love being a dad. Now that they’re talking, I’m really loving the camp counselor end of parenting. I think that’s where my strengths lie. I’m all about reasoning. If they fall and are OK but crying, David will be the hugger, and I’ll be the ‘Show me where it hurts; let’s talk about it’ one. I come from a family of lawyers, so explanation is crucial.”

Calling people “homophobic” is disrespectful to people with phobias.

John Barrowman Scott GillWould you eat a lab grown hamburger? What if it could end deforestation and factory farming? What if it cost you $385,000?

John Barrowman says he received vile hate online for his marriage to Scott Gill. “I don’t get it. Some of the comments were outrageously vile. Quoting lines from the Bible. I won’t tolerate it. People like that are banned on my Twitter account. I tell them to f**k off. People have a right to their beliefs but it doesn’t mean they have to be nasty and deny other people their human rights. The world is not going to change and fall apart because a gay couple got married. It’s a way for us to celebrate our love. That’s it.”

The New York Times weighs in on human rights abuses in Russia, particularly gay rights in light of the upcoming Sochi Games. “The United States, which has made great strides in accepting and protecting gay rights, has expressed concern about the new laws but needs to be more forceful. So does the International Olympic Committee, which too often fails to defend the Olympic ideals and should be leading a full-throated international campaign to insist that Russia repeal these laws.”Anthony Weiner

Anthony Weiner’s campaign manager has quit. Is this the beginning of the end? And honestly, should any of this matter? If the world were just more honest about the fact that sex is fun, and sexual activities are diverse and that consensual one harm no one, wouldn’t we just be able to elect the politician who could do the job, and not have to worry about which politician was going to be distracted next from an oncoming sex scandal?

In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, undercover police officers are chatting up men in parks, offering “drinks and some fun”, with no money involved, taking the men back to the apartment (no public sex contemplated), and arresting them for an attempted crime against nature, despite sodomy laws having been struck down by the Supreme Court. The prosecutor won’t prosecute the cases, because no law was broken. It’s happened twelve times since 2011, so it wasn’t just a misunderstanding. And the sheriff says that since the crimes against nature law is still on the books, he Nikolai Alekseyevhas no choice to conduct a witch hunt for gay men.

Nikolai Alekseyev says that the organizing committee for Moscow Gay Pride has officially decided not to boycott the Sochi Games but instead plans to organize a Winter Pride Festival on February 7, the opening day of the games. Now how exactly can NBC ignore coverage of that?

Can we have an honest conversation about porn, especially where the UK is concerned? Most men watch it. A lot of women watch it. Pretty much every gay man I’ve ever know has watched it. This author says he watches it, but seems to feel some shame over the misogyny.  Perhaps he’s watching the wrong porn? He seems to feel the problem with online porn isn’t that it exists and we watch it, but what it portrays. Most of the article is a mess of conflicted shame about sex, but his one good point is that politicians in power these days are among the last generation that didn’t grow up with ubiquitous porn online, but instead had to come up with tapes and magazines. Is it just future-shock for them wanting to force everyone to think about porn long enough to opt-in?Tara Reid

Tara Reid has reportedly been shut out of Sharknado 2, with Ian Ziering being the only original cast member asked back for the second feature. What’s the point in surviving a monster movie if you don’t get to come back for the sequel?

Anderson Cooper’s stalker has tried to kick down the red lacquered door on his firehouse, and was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bond. The stalker claims that Cooper’s boyfriend sent people after him, but has a history of crime and mental disorder.

Kidd KraddickNationally syndicated DJ Kidd Kraddick has passed away at the age of 53 at a New Orleans golf tournament for his charity Kidd’s Kids. I sometimes listen to Kraddick in the morning in the car, and he seems like a nice guy. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

Starz is still moving ahead with Stephen DeKnight’s alien series Inception, described as Halo meets Band of Brothers. The show has space marines landing on a new planet every season and encountering threats. DeKnight, who created Spartacus, has already stated that alternate sexualities will be featured in the show. The reason for the slow development is to find a way to make the show for a price point that’s feasible.

A gang of feral cats attacked a woman in France. I told you so!

NBC’s Bob Greenblatt says that when Jimmy Fallon takes over The Tonight Show, he still hopes that Jay Leno will return to the network regularly, much like Bob Hope did. Of course, Bob Hope never had a daily talk show, but did produce regular specials.Orlando Cruz

Out boxer Orlando Cruz says that he will be dedicating his November fight to deceased bisexual boxer Emile Griffith. “Emile was an extremely talented boxer and I will be dedicating my October 12th fight with “Siri” Salido in his honor. As a boxer he had some great years but those times were not the same as today.  Imagine if being black was seen as bad, if being gay was something that could not even be said out loud. Now that I think about it, Griffith did good, those were times of greater discrimination. Those times were different. Before we couldn’t get married or adopt kids. But now things have changed. I have a lot of respect for Emile and I understand why he might not have been as open. We are living in a more stable time while rejection was predominant during his time. We feel very sad about his passing and I hope to win the fight in his honor.” The fight will be televised on HBO October 12th as an undercard fight.

The clips from Gravity kind of freak me out – I mean, if this is how it opens, how can they sustain a level of suspense for a whole movie? They can’t possibly have that much action, and surely they’re not going to spend two hours of Sandra Bullock panicking and slowly suffocating alone in her space suit, right?

The Rhex robot does parkour of a sort. And you know I love parkour, and welcome our coming robot overlords, so Rhex (Robotic Hexapod) is right up my alley. I’m kind of amazed at how it can scale the more difficult obstacles near the end of the video. What I haven’t been able to figure out is if there’s someone controlling it via joystick, or if it’s determining what to do itself.

Because Hollywood is out of ideas, we get yet another retelling of Romeo & Juliet. This appears to be a pretty by the book, period version, but at least you can look at Douglas Booth, who remains one of the more beautiful men on the planet.

I really don’t know where to come down on the story of Eric Meyers. He abandoned his family for 16 years, leaving them to have him declared legally dead, with all the suffering associated with it. And he was off creating a new identity as a gay man. He claims an emotional break lead to the disappearing act, and I’ll grant you, it was tougher being gay 16 years ago, but plenty of us did it, and even some managed to do it from a conservative Christian upbringing, without many of the advantages Meyers had. But I do have sympathy for anyone who couldn’t reconcile their life, but probably not enough to cover abandoning your family without a word like that.

Opinionated. You'll love to hate me
