Justin Bieber buys his way out of felony, Charlie XCX won't return to Uganda over anti-gay laws, straight guys who watch gay porn

Justice Sonia Sotomayor has granted a temporary stay on the ruling against the Kansas marriage ban which was set to expire today. This is not unusual as it gives both parties time to present their cases. She's given them until 5PM today. As Kansas falls under the Tenth Circuit, which has a binding precedent, don't look for this to last.

Sundance has given a series order for Hap and Leonard, based on Joe Lansdale's southern noir books "about the unlikely friendship between working class laborer Hap Collins, a white laborer who did time in prison for refusing to serve in the Vietnam War, and Leonard Pine, a six-foot-five, gay, black Vietnam vet with anger issues."

Honey Maid isn't done poking the religious right with a stick, and I love it. They're going to be sponsoring the Paley Center's LGBT Gala, chaired by Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. This year's benefit will focus on LGBT depiction in television over the last several decades. Gary Osifchin of Honey Maid's marketing company says “After taking a deep look at the world around us and our fans’ desire for honest, transparent content, we knew it was important to showcase the stories of real, diverse American families, including LGBT. Honey Maid believes that no matter how things change, what makes us wholesome endures, and we're so thrilled to be part of this important conversation with The Paley Center for Media." Time to but some graham crackers.

Let's hear from straight guys who watch gay porn. It seems only fitting after so many gay guys have watched straight guys do gay porn.

Out Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas will be directing a documentary about what it means to be young and white in America for MTV's Look Different campaign. “As a new immigrant in America who grew up watching MTV, it’s a privilege to work on this project and for Define American to be a part of the Look Different campaign. And as an immigrant who is a gay, undocumented, and a person of color, what it means to be ‘white’ in an increasingly ‘minority-majority’ country has always fascinated me."Foundation

Meanwhile, HBO has finally found a way forward with Isaac Asimov's legendary Foundation series into a television show in partnership with Jonathan Nolan. It's been years since I read Foundation, but HBO has the resources to make this work, if Nolan can get out of his own way to make it great.

The final report on Joan Rivers' death says that she was given too much Propofol during her throat procedure, which cause oxygen deprivation. She wasn't weighed before the dose was administered, leading to overdose. If Propofol sounds familiar, it was the sedative Joan Riversinvolved in Michael Jackson's death.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has filed papers to have the challenge to his state's marriage ban dismissed because of the Sixth Circuit's ruling upholding the bans there. Except South Carolina is in the Fourth Circuit, which has a binding ruling. It's like asking to have the challenge dismissed because Russia bans marriage equality. It just doesn't work like that.

And now, NSFW Spanish soccer butts, which are second only to rugby butts in quality.

Justin Bieber has taken a deal in the case of him egging his neighbor's house, paying the neighbor $80,000 in damages and attending anger management courses and doing five days of community service. It's great to be rich and buy your way out of felonies.

Sir Elton John attacked Russia's gay propaganda laws during a concert in Russia. “I’m not big on technology, but I love my iPad! They’re Sir Elton Johnamazing, aren’t they? They way they can connect us to the things and people we love. How dignified that St Petersburg should erect a memorial to Steve Jobs, the remarkable founder of Apple. But last week it was labelled ‘homosexual propaganda’ and taken down. Can this be true? Steve’s memory is re-written because his successor at Apple, Tim Cook, is gay? Does that also make iPads gay propaganda? Is Tchaikovsky’s beautiful music ‘sexually perverting’? As a gay man, I’ve always felt so welcome here in Russia. Stories of Russian fans – men and women who fell in love dancing to Nikita, or their kids who sing along to Circle Of Life – mean the world to me. If I’m not honest about who I am, I couldn’t write this music. It’s not gay propaganda. It’s how I express life. If we start punishing people for that, the world will lose its humanity.”

In case you still had any faith left in humanity, Kim Kardashian's iPhone game (recall she uses a Blackberry) made $43.4 million, was downloaded 23 million times, and people wasted six billion minutes playing it.

President Obama has called on the FCC to reclassify the internet under Title II as a public utility, which would usher in net neutrality. The FCC is an independent agency, so it doesn't have to follow the recommendation. Big cable is losing their minds, while groups from Silicon Charlie XCXValley and Hollywood are cheering. Senator Ted Cruz has called net neutrality "Obamacare for the internet" and denounced the move.

Charli XCX has said that she'll never return to Uganda because of their anti-gay laws. If you're wondering if she really had plans to go to Uganda in the first place, which I certainly did, it seems that her mother is from the African nation. “I have been to Uganda when I was younger. It was amazing, but I wouldn’t go there now because I am so anti a lot of the laws that have been passed there. It was really upsetting that that’s the road the government decided to go down. I’m never going back there. It’s a terrible, backwards decision.”

As a veteran, I'd just like to say that this article in Slate saying that we shouldn't honor veterans who fight for our nation in places like Afghanistan because "Wars that are not heroic have no real heroes, except for the people who oppose those wars" is incredibly offensive. These soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors perform heroic acts and put their lives on the line because our country says they need to do so to protect the interests of the nation. If you want to say our foreign policy is a disaster, I probably won't argue too much with you.But don't shortchange the soldiers who will law down their lives to protect the country be it national security in the middle east or an invading army just because you want to take on our foreign policy. If you can't have the debate on foreign policy without dragging these men and women through the gutter, you're not capable of discussing such a complex issue. Bob Geldof

Bob Geldof has announced that he'll be doing a remake of "Don't They Know It's Christmastime" featuring One Direction, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Foals, Elbow, Ellie Goulding, Emelie Sandé, Sam Smith, Olly Murs, Bono and more to raise funds for the Ebola crisis. I'm of two minds here. The original was groundbreaking, moving and unique. And the Ebola crisis desperately needs attention and funding. But I have to wonder if they couldn't do something new here rather than recycling such an iconic movement.

Happy Veteran's Day. My thanks and gratitude to all who have served and given so much.

I'm experiencing a lot of upheaval at the day job right now, and it's stressing me out big time. I'm not ashamed to say that I watched this video of a corgi named Meatball on a merry-go-round several times yesterday, and I felt better every time. It's my gift to you.

While we're nearly rid of Michele Bachmann from the House, we often forget that her husband Marcus runs a counseling clinic that counts reparative therapy as one of their specialties. And he's tired of being demonized for it. After all, these people are there voluntarily! And he's just trying to align their belief systems with who they are! Never mind that once you enter a relationship with a counselor, the power balance is inherently unequal. And never mind that he's trying to align something innate to something learned. And pay no attention to the fact that every major medical association says it's harmful. They just hate him because of the leftist media.

Jehova's Witness leader Anthony Morris III says that women shouldn't be out in public in tight gym clothes or Spanx. And men shouldn't be wearing skinny leg jeans. Because they're designed by homosexuals who want to see you in tight clothing. Let's set aside the fact that skinny leg pants are on their way out. Gay men know they make your butt look bad. Hell, they could make Kerry Degman's butt look flat. So I really don't think the homosexuals are behind that. I blame the hipsters.
