“You Oughta Know” is about Dave Coulier, Jack Klugman’s sons think their father is more important than Cory Monteith, Matthew Dave Lewis drenched and giggling

Maggie GallagherMaggie Gallagher thinks the Pope and his new ideas are exhilarating, and perhaps gay rights activists should practice what he preaches. “What I find most exhilarating about Pope Francis, is the possibility that we can reach out to those with whom we disagree without surrendering principle. I will say I have not found that true generally. I have found the gay rights community — the activists anyway, not the ordinary folk — is mostly asking for one thing: Agree, or be judged a hateful bigot. But when you are in the fray of battle, it is easy to become fragile and to lose sight of possibilities. Maybe the pope can do things I cannot imagine. Imagine that!” But not her. No.

Jack Klugman’s sons are not happy that Cory Monteith is getting a special Emmy tribute and their father is not. “It’s an insult and it really seems typical of this youth-centric culture that has an extremely short attention span and panders to only a very narrow demographic [of young adults]. I don’t mean to say anything disparaging about Cory [Monteith], but he was a kid who had won no Emmys and it was a self-induced tragedy.” Honestly, that’s just awful. The Emmys are also giving special tributes to many of the older generation – Jean Stapleton, James Cory MonteithGandolfini, Jonathan Winters and Gary David Goldberg. To say that the Emmys can’t service the needs of youth is just sad.

Dave Coulier has finally confirmed that “You Oughta Know” from Alanis Morrisette is about him.

Lee Daniels says that his father beat him for being gay. “I ran from that for such a long time – my identity – because I was beaten for it, and then my dad died and I was sort of happy that he did because I dunno that I would have been alive, he’d just kept beating me for being gay. So my mom didn’t want me around cause then… in the African American community we don’t embrace that [being gay]. You know, we simply don’t because men have to be strong and being gay is not a good thing. And so my mom took me to an all-white school… at that point I went from being ‘gay, gay, gay’ to ‘n—er, n—er, n—er.’ …It’s a very, very, very painful experience to live and I try to show that in all of my work, you know, the personal atrocities that I’ve lived.”

Olivia Wilde stars in Rush with Chris Hemsworth, but despite all his sexy scenes, she didn’t get naked with her onscreen husband. Chris Hemsworth“Well, you know, it’s funny because I think I’m the only female in the movie that doesn’t see Chris naked. He has lots of exciting sex scenes, but ironically, with his wife, you never see one. So I never had one of those saucy sexy scenes with him. But watching the finished film, I was able to appreciate it.”

NBC has renewed the contract of out President Bob Greenblatt until 2017, showing confidence the executive will be able to turn around the struggling Peacock.

Have you seen the silver fox that Kerr Smith has turned into these days?

George Takei wants us to keep the pressure on Russia over the Sochi Olympics, and is selling a t-shirt with the Olympic rings turned into handcuffs that says “Say No To Sochi.” All profits from the shirt will go to GLAAD, which has seemed oddly silent on the subject of Sochi, now that I think about it.Say No to Sochi

The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie-Sells doesn’t understand stars that come out, but then won’t talk about it. “Oh god if anyone comes out I’m like ‘good for you!’ I get a little frustrated with the people that half come out, the people who are like ’I don’t want to talk about it, I wanna keep it real. Everyone knows you’re gay; you just look ashamed, just shut up and say it! It really pisses me off, not because I feel like everyone has to bare their William Shatnersoul all the time, people don’t have to know all the private details of their lives, but it’s nothing to be fucking ashamed of, so why act ashamed?! It drives me crazy.”

Hell is Now a Thriving Epicenter of Gay Culture I guess we can gentrify any place.

Just imagine being a little kid and having Chris Colfer come read you fairy tales.

Matthew Dave Lewis dropped by the BBC radio studios for a game of Innuendo Bingo, where he and Chris Stark sit face to face with cheeks full of water while Scott Mills plays unintentionally saucy bits from radio and television, hoping one of the guys will laugh and spit water all over the other. It happens a lot. Why aren’t U.S. radio shows this much fun. But no, I’m not happy you didn’t wear light colored trousers Matthew.

Vlogger Mark Miller randomly ran around a college campus asking girls if based on his appearance alone if they thought he was gay. And most of them got it wrong. I admit my gaydar is practically useless, but how could they not know? Just look at his skin!

Cardinal Dolan, one of the loudest anti-gay voices in the nation was asked what he thought of the Pope’s comments that the Church needed to focus on other things than sex and marriage equality, and the Cardinal couldn’t stop gushing. Granted, he doesn’t seem to think the Pope was talking to him, but willful blindness is kind of a hallmark of the Church, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, Chris Cuomo sat down with Catholic League’s Bill Donahue to discuss the Pope’s comments, and it goes much like you’d expect. Donahue doesn’t think the Pope is asking him to change his anti-gay ways, insists that the Church doesn’t have a pedophile problem but a homosexual problem and is generally as oblivious to his own words as one can be.

By the second half of the interview, Cuomo has lost pretty much all patience with Donahue, asking him if he thinks his insults to gays and Jews reflects badly on the Church, and on all Catholics, such as Cuomo. Donahue swears he’s just telling the truth, and doesn’t feel he’s in conflict with the Pope.

Louis CK won’t buy his children smartphones. He thinks that phones are causing us to lose empathy for our fellow human beings, and the ability to just sit and feel things ourselves. I’m not entirely sure that he isn’t right, and perhaps one of the great thinkers out there. But if someone touches my shiny new iPhone 5S, I will cut them.

Every year Queer Lisboa, the film festival, puts out a killer ad based around a movie. This year it’s Pride Heart (I would have gone with Queer Heart), and it’s a speech I think we should give at the beginning of every Pride march, protest, and vigil we stand.

In support of the upcoming movie Five Dances, they’ve put together this music video for Scott Matthew’s slowed down “I Want To Dance With Somebody” that’s simply stunning. Just sit back and let the music and the dance carry you through love.

Just a week ago we had Gilles Marini backstage at Bethheny saying that it being 2013, he can’t imagine lying to help a celebrity he was friends with stay in the closet. This week, Lance Bass says the exact opposite, saying not only would he, he has and does. While there’s something to be said for choosing your own moment, especially through the eyes of Lance, who was outed, it still rubs me the wrong way. I’m not saying I’m right, but I am saying a have a very strong negative instinctual reaction to the idea.

Opinionated. You'll love to hate me
