Ugandan president unsure about signing anti-gay bill, Jane Lynch's family sing-a-long, Megyn Kelly's worst Christmas nightmare came true

Maria MaksakovaMaria Maksakova, a prominent mezzo soprano with St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theater, who also happens to be a member of the parliament, is seeing some rough side effects from the Russian “gay propaganda law.” She says “We are seeing extremely negative consequences as the result of this law with the growth of hate crimes. Our country has suffered a colossal  loss to its image around the world. I am very sad to see that the Olympic Games in Sochi for which we have so long and anxiously prepared will come to pass with less brilliance and passion because of this unfortunate initiative that was so hastily — and I believe without thoughtful discussion – adopted by parliament.” Well, someone is paying attention.

Could The Flash pilot be the most multicultural cast on television? If casting sides for the show are to be believed, Grant Gustin will be the sole Caucasian cast member, which could be a great thing for diversity, especially on The CW, which seems to have a “type.” Now how about working in a gay character?

The Duck Dynasty controversy seems to have boosted sales of the Robertson’s Christmas album Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family BeyonceChristmas. The album, which came out October 29, sold 122,000 copies last week, making it the #4 album behind only Beyonce, Garth Brooks and One Direction.

Speaking of Beyonce, she sold another 374,000 copies last week, bringing her domestic total to 991,000 and making it the 12th biggest selling album of the year in just under two weeks.

Ugandan Anglican Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira is praising the new anti-gay law passed in his nation that bans promotion of homosexuality and puts in place life imprisonment for gay sex.  Very Christian of him.

But Ugandan President Museveni hasn’t decided if he will sign the bill yet. “I will first go through it, if I find that it is right I will sign but if I find that it is not right I will send it back to parliament.”

Next year BBC America will be bringing us a four part miniseries about Ian Fleming called Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond starring Dominic Cooper as the author, who led a rather interesting life himself.Dominic Cooper

The NYPD, which is constantly under fire for racial profiling and stop and frisk, is testing out an advanced police car that continuously copies any number it sees, and runs it against a database looking for crimes, from license plates to phone numbers. It also has radiation detection and captures video, which streams continuously to headquarters. This isn’t some pipe dream, one such car is already undergoing field testing.

The Mormon owned Deseret News is out with another opinion piece bashing the marriage equality ruling in the state, and they’re welcoming the chance to litigate the issue. Not only do they tie their marriage views into all the good family, industry and apple pie values they think they possess, but they believe they can win, mostly just by showing up, which they note California didn’t do for Prop 8. “Contrast Utah’s situation to that of California. In California when the constitutionally enacted definition of marriage as between one man and one woman was challenged in federal district court, neither the state’s governor nor the attorney general bothered to show up. Because the wrong parties were contesting the issues in court and on appeal, the ensuing litigation created more questions than answers and the U.S. Supreme Court vacated the appeal precisely because state officials had failed to defend what voters had approved.”

According to Pro Bowl linebacker Lamar Lathon, at least two members of the 1993 Houston Oilers were gay, and their teammates knew and didn’t care. “Listen, those guys that we’re talking about were unbelievable teammates. And if you wanted to go to war with someone, you would get those guys first. Because I have never seen tougher guys than those guys. And everybody in the locker room, the consensus knew or had an idea that things were not exactly right. But guess what? When they strapped the pads on and got on the field, man, we were going to war with these guys Gal Gadotbecause they were unbelievable.” His teammate Bubba McDowell agreed, saying “Everybody knew certain guys (were gay). Everybody speculated and people used to see these two guys come in by themselves. They’d leave at lunchtime and then come back.” He also said that showering with the gay teammates was “no big deal.”

Gal Gadot has given her first interview since being cast as Wonder Woman, and her body was one of the first things to come up, since the interviewer noted that traditionally Wonder Woman has been, well, really chesty. “Hmm. I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world. Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book,’ it’d be problematic.” Bravo.

Dell is rated with a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign, but is under fire for their SonicWALL web filtering product, which allows filtering of GLBT sites. And Dell is sticking by the capability. “Dell SonicWALL security products offer a multitude of content filtering options that help connection owners make choices to allow or not allow access of certain sites based on business and organization needs. The gay and lesbian content filter is part of a filter category that represents many different topics of interest. Our goal is to provide choices to our customers, allowing access to what they need so they can ensure a productive and efficient environment for their users. We make no judgment on our customers’ filter choices, we never deny access to any sites, nor do we pre-populate a block on any sites, including gay and lesbian sites.”

Most of the routines I've connected with most on So You Think You Can Dance have been contemporary routines. They display passion, anger, longing, and have been brought to life by some of our favorite dancers like Travis Wall and Nick Lazarinni. But I'm not sure I can ever look at them the same again after watching Contemporary Dance How To. For the record, all the dancers in the comments think it's hilarious, and I found it via Andrew Kennan-Bolger, who also liked it. You don't want to go anywhere near the YouTube comments however, because they're full of homophobic comments about the lead.

Maggie Gallagher thinks that she could probably find a way to bake a cake for a gay couple, unlike those bakers in Washington. Of course it would have to be blessed by a priest, and I have no idea if holy water allows a cake to rise properly.

This is dedicated to Megyn Kelly. Hugs and kisses.

Jane Lynch and her family bring you A Very Mediocre Christmas. But honestly, this is pretty good, and makes you wonder why Glee always makes such odd song choices for her then makes her voice so unrecognizable.
