Wouldn’t it be pretty tempting to think about walking through it? We imagine a lot of gay couples today are deciding whether to get married now that it’s open to them. From our standpoint, that’s something to explore.”

But thanks to some rapid parliamentary tricks, it looks like the bill will just squeak through.

California Governor Jerry Brown has directed county clerks to begin issuing marriage licenses to same sex Secretary Hagelcouples as soon as the stay in the ninth circuit is listed. The Attorney General has asked that the stay lift be fast tracked, rather than waiting the customary 25-30 days.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has ordered the Pentagon to begin figuring out how to implement full benefits for same-sex military couples as soon as possible. Limited benefits are schedule for October 1, but figuring those out took years, so we can hope that these are much simpler.

The ranking Catholic in the United States, Cardinal Timothy Dolan is not happy with Cardinal Dolanthe Supreme Court ruling. “The common good of all, especially our children, depends upon a society that strives to uphold the truth of marriage. Now is the time to redouble our efforts in witness to this truth. These decisions are part of a public debate of great consequence. The future of marriage and the well-being of our society hang in the balance.”

But President Obama thinks the court got it right. “This ruling is a victory for couples who have long fought for equal treatment under the law; for children whose parents’ marriages will now be recognized, rightly, as legitimate; for families that, at long last, will get the respect and protection they deserve; and for friends and supporters who have wanted nothing more than to see their loved ones treated fairly and have worked hard to persuade their nation to change for the better.

Northern Ireland went the other way though, deciding to not recognize Pixarthe equality bill making its way through the House of Lords. In Northern Ireland, same-sex marriages will continue as civil partnerships.

Thanks for Sharing stars Mark Ruffalo, Pink, Josh Gadd and Tim Robbins as recovering addicts, and the people they find love and support in. But it doesn’t really look like they went for the tearjerker drama about recovery, but instead went quite real with it.
