TBT: The U.S. Men’s Heterosexual Figure Skating Team Take The Ice

Not a glittering bodysuit in sight.

Winter Olympics frenzy is about to be in full swing with the opening ceremony scheduled for tomorrow in Pyeongchang.

One of the events that fans look forward to the most is figure skating. Not only for the dazzling routines, but also for the glittering costumes the men and women wear on the ice.

Adam Rippon has been making headlines this year for being the first openly gay athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics for Team USA—with plenty of other figure skaters coming out before him, but later in their careers.

During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, athletes and companies were upset over Vladimir Putin’s anti-gay policies, even some suggesting a boycott of the games. Saturday Night Live imagined what would happen if Team USA decided to assemble a “B-squad of less talented, but undeniably heterosexual figure skaters.”
