Men's Shorts Are Getting Shorter—And That's A Good Thing: PHOTOS

The Wall Street Journal raised the alarm recently that hemlines on men's shorts are getting shorter, as if that's something to be worried about. We do legs at the gym, after all.

"In the past few years, the low-water-mark length of a 15-inch-or-so inseam receded to knee-length (11 inches), then a knee-baring 9 inches, then to a quadriceps-exposing 7 inches and on to the newly fashionable thigh-flaunting 5 inches," declares writer David Colman. "If men's shorts were a glacier in Greenland, scientists would be freaking out."

Colman spotlights Chubbies, a San Francisco clothier that makes its men’s shorts with a 5½-inch inseam—fine for straight guys just dipping their thighs in the short-short waters. But for gay guys who want to be on-trend (and maybe catch some boy's eye) we'd go even higher.

Here are some of our favorite short-short looks from yesteryear and today.
