Mexican Actor Luis Gerardo Mendez Comes Out As Gay

Luis Gerardo Mendez, one of Mexico's brightest young actors, has apparently come out as gay in a recent interview, after keeping his personal life private for much of his career.

Mendez, the star of Nosotros Los Nobles (We are the Nobles) told Moi magazine that infidelity has caused him problems in the past. "If the agreement is that you can sleep with anybody, there are no problems, but if it's not, it's not cool," he said. "I was not faithful to many, I struggled a lot with it, but I have redeemed myself."

The 32-year-old actor, who next appears in the biopic Cantiflas, used the masculine word muchos instead of muchas, which would refer to women.

Mendez played a gay chararcter in the 2010 film No se si cortarme las venas o dejarmelas largas (I Don't Know Whether to Slit My Veins or Leave Them Long), sharing a kiss with Luis Ernesto Franco.

Below, check out a behind-the-scenes video of Mendez's Mio cover shoot.
