Miami's Biltmore Hotel Courts Gay Weddings With New Ad Campaign

Love is Love

The Biltmore in Coral Gables, Florida, is one of America's most historic hotels. But the 87-year-old venue isn't old-fashioned when it comes to welcoming gay and lesbian guests:  On Sunday, it launched "Love is Love," an ad campaign encouraging same-sex couples to tie the knot at the grand accommodation.

Even though same-sex marriage isn't recognized in Florida, destinations like South Beach and Key West have long been attractive to LGBT travelers–and the Biltmore is hoping to do the same for Coral Gables. It even launched the "Love is Love" campaign during a brunch for the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.

“People think it’s a conservative area. It’s not."  Wendy Kallergis, president of the Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association, told Gay South Florida. “The Biltmore has welcomed [gays and lesbians] for years.”

With the Supreme Court possibly striking down the Defense of Marriage Act next month, you might want to book your wedding party now. You can worry about the groom later.
