Michael B. Jordan Oils Up New Muscles For "Men's Fitness" Cover

The "Creed" star says gaining muscle is only hard at first.

Michael B. Jordan is beefed up for his role in the new Rocky franchise spinoff film Creed, and oiled up for the cover of the Men's Health's December 2015 issue.

The 28-year-old actor told the magazine he gained 24 pounds of muscle to play Adonis Johnson, the son of Rocky Balboa's late friend and former rival Apollo Creed. The film will have him starring alongside the original Rocky, Sylvester Stallone.

On gaining weight for the once-in-a-lifetime role, Jordan told the magazine the pros of working out far outweigh the cons.

"You know, at first you feel like shit, you’re hurting," he said. "When things start getting a little easier, when you start lifting weight you never lifted before, when you start bench-pressing 225 pounds 10 times and it ain’t nothing, and then you start giving hugs to girls and they’re, like, feeling you up a little and you think, ‘What’s this?’—then it’s, ‘This is all right.’"
