Michael Johnston Is The Newest Gay Love Interest On “Teen Wolf”

There has been no shortage of LGBT characters on MTV’s Teen Wolf—heck, even the straight characters come off kind of gay (Hello, Styles!). But when the show returns for a fifth season on June 29, we’ll meet some new queer faces.

Johnston with Tyler Posey

Chief among them is Michael Johnston, who will play an as-yet-unnamed new arrival in Beacon Hills who crosses paths with gay teen Mason (Khylin Rhambo). Johnston, 19,  tells Out, “there’s some hope that we’ll start out as friends, but maybe more will happen.”

Geekly reports on a new gay TW character, Corey, who will arrive in episode four—so it’s possible Johnston is playing Corey, or someone else entirely.

In any case, Johnston’s excited for his character to have a romance: “When I see relationships on Teen Wolf, they’re all treated the same,” he says. “They don’t make a big deal over a gay relationship in the show — it’s just like any other relationship, which is really close to what life is like.”
