Throughout the weekend, men’s fashion came into focus at Milan Fashion Week, with big-name designers like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Calvin Klein and John Varvatos showing off their fall/winter 2014 collections.

Dolce & Gabbana

Talk about Throwback Thursday: On the first day of the Milan menswear shows, Dolce & Gabbana presented a medieval-inspired collection. “The Norman period in Sicily is fascinating,” Domenico Dolce told The Telegraph, “It was the first time that the people from the extreme North of Europe fought their way down to the South.” D&G’s Fall 2014 collection featured chain-mail-inspired balaclavas, sheepskin sweaters with studded Gothic crosses, and plenty of prints of ancient Norman kings. We’re guessing Domenico watches Game of Thrones. (More photos here)

John Varvatos

Known for his rock-and-roll aesthetic, John Varvatos took inspiration for his autumn/winter collection from legendary rockers KISS, who also made a surprise appearance on the runway. The show featured models in KISS makeup, plus tight leather jackets, statement coats, slim suits and leather boots. “[John’s clothes] have all those elements that I love in clothes, which are timeless,” said KISS’ Paul Stanley. “There is a style that goes back to some of the great rock ‘n’ roll bands of the 60s.” (More photos here)

“Our cowboy is macho, he’s a biker … he doesn’t have a horse,” Donatella Versace told the AP backstage. She sent models in fitted suits decorated with rhinestone horseshoes and cactus plants down the catwalk, as well as fur motorcycle jackets, silk shirts with “Western Cowboy” on the back, and bandana-print underwear paired with leather chaps. Perfect for PTA meetings! (More photos)
