The government may be shut down but that isn’t stopping Controversy Queen Miley Cyrus from partying in the USA: Bangerz, her newest album to be officially released on October 4th, is streaming on a plethora of websites around the ‘net.
The album’s art has a handful of 90′s Miami looks that have Miley in varying degrees of dressed (but shockingly with her tongue in her mouth) posing against black and blue silhouettes of palm trees and flashy neon. This seems to cohere with her new strategically sloppy aesthetic.
Miley’s fourth studio album has an impressive range: from slower power ballads to girly synth-pop to trap-influenced earwormy pop/rap to straight up house music, featuring guests like Nelly, Britney Spears, Big Sean, and French Montana.
“I wrote it while I was working on Valentine’s Day,” she told FASHION magazine about the song “Drive,” specifically. “Emotionally it was such a hard time. It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It’s a time when you want to leave but you can’t. It’s also about moving on.“
I’m listening to the whole thing right now and my favorite lyric is already: “Drivin’ so fast bout to piss on myself,” on the pop-country jam “4×4.”
You can listen to the whole thing over here via iTunes, but I can’t promise that the experience will improve your twerking skills.
