Miley Cyrus Launches New #InstaPride Campaign In Collaboration With Instagram

A month after launching her Happy Hippie Foundation–a non-profit dedicated to fighting injustices faced by homeless LGBT youth–Miley Cyrus is launching her latest social justice campaign, #InstaPride, a collaboration between Cyrus and Instagram.

I’m launching #InstaPride today, in partnership with @Instagram, to share stories of transgender and gender expansive people from around the country. Over the next 2 weeks, you’ll meet them and the people in their lives who support them, as we highlight their stories of resilience #happyhippiepresents @happyhippiefdn

The "Nightmare" singer will help spread the word to her 22 million+ followers by snapping pics of about a dozen LGBT subjects (and yes, praise be, Brendan Jordan is amongst them).

“Anyone should be able to express how they feel, without question, and be able to live,” Cyrus told Time. “And use the f—ing public restrooms.”

Those selected to participate are intended show positive examples for young people who might be struggling with their own sexuality or gender identity as well as serve as a reference point for those who do not personally know anyone within the LGBT community.

“People like Leelah are not living their lives because people are telling them what to be. And there are women miles away from me right now that are only allowed to show this much of their eyes. I can stand on a stage with my tits out,” Cyrus says. “It’s so unfair that I’m allowed to be like this and there are two men that can’t get married in fucking Nashville right now.”
