I love up and coming legendary rap star Iggy Azalea.  "Work" was one of my favorite summer jams.  And "Change Your Life" is pretty damn catchy too.  But come on with this nonsense.

In an interview with Paper Magazine Iggy claims that Miss Miley Cyrus took twerking, not from systematically marginalized populations of queer and/or black communities, but from her:

I've been doing that onstage for two-and-a-half years ... She probably fucking watched my videos online and decided to try it.  People just wanna see my butt. We'd been doing [twerk battles] at the shows, but no one put it online.

The rest of the Paper Mag interview is actually a pretty interesting read in which I learned that Iggy's name is taken from her scrappy childhood pet dog, that she doesn't really drink or go out partying, and that she is apprehensive about having her parents see her perform.

And, to be fair, Iggy's butt is very nice and Miley probably had seen it at one point or another, but, as Jezebel's Lindy West said:  "I don't claim to understand the full history of twerking with any sort of precision, but I am 99% sure it didn't come from a white lady in Australia two years ago."

Cue the outraged think pieces in 5. 4. 3. 2. GO!
