"Misfits" 1.06: Vice Versus Virtue

Previously on Misfits: Young delinquents gained superpowers, which led them to kill their probation worker, which led Simon to kill their other probation worker, and Nathan still doesn't even know what his dang power is.

Last episode of season one! Curse you, British brevity!

As usual, something weird is going on around the community center: young ruffians are suddenly giving up their troublemaking ways and joining a group of goodie-goodies led by... hey, it's Lady Clara from Downton Abbey!

Otherwise, things are pretty normal for the Misfits: Alisha and Curtis go off to do their unique version of the nasty, and Nathan is still a huge jerk to Simon. Simon's patience is wearing thin, and for good reason... he hasn't told the others that Sally is currently hanging out in a freezer.

In the bathroom, Alisha runs into Rachel, the snooty leader of the pious “Virtue” group. Rachel disapproves of Alisha's promiscuous ways, so she puts a mind control spell on her. Obviously.

Alisha shows up the next day with a new out-of-character outfit and Stepford Wife personality. The gang suspects that something is afoul, but before they can take action, a group of Virtue cronies abduct Curtis.

Nathan and Kelly eat pizza and talk about gross stuff involving socks. They sneak off to steal some booze and end up witnessing Rachel brainwashing Curtis.

The two of them confer with Simon and decide that it's time to free their friends, so they suit up: rubber gloves to block Alisha's power and Lady Gaga to drown out Rachel's influence.

Rescuing Alisha turns out to be a bust when Virtue gets ahold of Kelly. Nathan and Simon escape with an army of thralls in hot pursuit. Simon turns invisible, apparently leaving Nathan out to dry.

Just then, a mysterious hooded figure swoops in on a bike, saves Nathan, and exits just as swiftly. Thanks, mysterious plot device!

Nathan manages to find Kelly, who cleans up surprisingly well as a Stepford zombie. Seemingly having given up hope when he's unable to break Rachel's spell, Nathan seems ready to leave town. Then he has a last-minute change of heart and puts on a snazzy suit.

He pretends to be one of the Virtue thralls and manages to infiltrate the community center, where he threatens Rachel with a gun and demands that she break the mind control. Rachel says that she doesn't understand how it works and couldn't change them back even if she wanted to. Nathan can't hear her because he's listening to “Low Rider.” Facepalm.

Nathan ends up taking her hostage and heading to the roof, where he delivers an impassioned speech about the virtues of amorality. It doesn't have the desired effect, especially when his water pistol starts leaking. Whoops.

Nathan struggles with Rachel, and not even the sudden appearance of Simon can keep both of them from plummeting to their deaths. Good news: the mind control is broken! Bad news: Nathan is dead! Oh noes!

Oh, wait. Turns out that his power is reincarnation from death. He's fine! He's just buried alive! Hooray!

What's in store for the next season of Misfits? Will Nathan spend it underground? Will Sally stay a corpse-sicle? Stay tuned and find out!
